French Prime Minister Opens Paris Air Lab

French prime minister François Bayrou reaffirmed his commitment to aerospace technologies and sustainable aviation at the opening of the Paris Air Lab at the 2025 Paris Air Show.

Bayrou, who was appointed in December 2024, opened the Air Lab alongside French transport minister Philippe Tabarot, Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury, and Thales EVP avionics Yannick Assouad.

During his opening address, Bayrou credited the Paris Air Lab exhibitors’ “incredible story,” which includes advances in engine technologies and aerospace research, along with “everything to do with decarbonization.”

He also credited the role of aerospace, science and technology in France’s post-pandemic recovery.

The Paris Air Lab looks at the future of air transport, focusing on themes such as sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), electrification, hydrogen, digitalization, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and new aircraft architectures.
