Saudi Arabia designates Abha major southern gateway

The General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia has announced the city of Abha will become the kingdom's southern gateway hub with local budget carrier Flynas its designated carrier, reports ch-aviation.

Capt. Abdul Hakeem Al-Badr, assistant to GACA's president for safety, security and air transport, said in a statement that Flynas would be tasked with developing the region's connectivity with other towns around Saudi Arabia, as well as internationally. Hail already acts as the country's northern gateway.
