The latest airline route news, featuring network changes, schedule alterations, codeshares and interline agreements.

Frontier Airlines has unveiled 23 new routes for spring 2026, expanding its U.S. and Mexico network. Phoenix sees one of the largest boosts, with new flights from Nashville, Des Moines, Indianapolis, Memphis, Milwaukee and Omaha. In Florida, Fort Lauderdale adds service to Indianapolis, St. Louis and Raleigh-Durham, while Columbus gains a new link to Fort Lauderdale. Frontier is also expanding Caribbean and Mexico access: Chicago Midway, Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham each gain new service to Cancun. Las Vegas will see new links to Minneapolis, Memphis and Milwaukee. Indianapolis becomes a growing focus city with new services to Las Vegas, Phoenix and Fort Myers. Additional markets gaining connections include Norfolk-Tampa and Columbus-Fort Lauderdale. Most routes launch between March and early April 2026.


Iberia has signed a codeshare agreement with China Southern Airlines. The partnership follows the launch of China Southern’s Guangzhou-Madrid service, which operates three times a week and will carry Iberia’s code while enabling Iberia passengers to connect onward to major Chinese cities. In return, China Southern will place its code on Iberia’s domestic network and several Latin American destinations.


BA Cityflyer is expanding its network in summer 2026 with three new routes to France, Italy and Spain. The British Airways subsidiary will launch flights from London City to Toulon Saint-Tropez, from London Stansted to Olbia in Sardinia, and from Glasgow to San Sebastián. Ian Romanis, managing director of BA Cityflyer, says the additions “will provide even greater options and flexibility for those planning summer holidays in 2026.” The Toulon service kicks off May 23 through Sept. 1; Olbia starts May 23 through Sept. 27; and San Sebastián begins July 18 through Sept. 8. All three routes will be served 2X-weekly.


Royal Air Maroc will launch a new nonstop service between Casablanca and Los Angeles on June 7, 2026. The 3X-weekly route will take about 12 hr. and be operated using Boeing 787 aircraft. “This direct route to Los Angeles is much more than a new destination. It is a historic milestone for Royal Air Maroc and for the air connectivity of the African continent,” CEO Hamid Addou says. “It illustrates our ambition to bring Morocco closer to major global economic, tourism and cultural hubs.” Flights will operate from Casablanca on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.


Air France will expand its UK network in 2026 with a new 2X-daily service between Paris Charles de Gaulle and London Gatwick, alongside special flights to Cardiff timed for the Six Nations rugby championship. Starting March 29, the airline will operate two daily Airbus A220 flights to Gatwick, complementing its six daily services to London Heathrow. The carrier will also provide 12 flights to Cardiff between Feb. 13-16, designed to transport supporters to the Six Nations tournament.


JetBlue will boost its Fort Lauderdale network next spring with a series of limited-time routes designed to capture peak spring break and Patriots’ Day demand. The carrier will add service in March to six destinations it does not normally serve from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport: Bozeman, Denver, Dallas-Fort Worth, Jacksonville, Reno-Tahoe and Salt Lake City. Frequencies range from weekly flights to up to 12 per week on select routes. JetBlue will also operate a special 5X-weekly service between Fort Lauderdale and Portland, Maine, from April 16-27, 2026, targeting holiday demand in New England. “These routes are another example of how we're responding to demand and creating more opportunities for travelers,” says Dave Jehn, vice president of network planning and airline partnerships.


Ryanair will base a sixth aircraft at Liverpool John Lennon Airport for summer 2026, adding three new routes and expanding frequencies. The move increases the airline’s Liverpool capacity by 250,000 seats—around 15% year on year—pushing annual traffic above 2.4 million passengers. The new routes to Marrakesh, Tirana and Warsaw join an expanded network of 34 destinations, with additional flights scheduled on 11 routes including Alicante, Barcelona, Faro, Ibiza, Kaunas, Kraków, Malaga, Malta, Porto, Reus and Sofia.


Porter Airlines has launched its first Central American service, introducing flights between Toronto Pearson and Liberia, Costa Rica. The route, operating up to six times per week, follows recent additions to Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Nassau. The service is operated with 132-seat Embraer 195-E2 aircraft.


New Zealand officials have welcomed the launch of China Eastern Airlines’ new Shanghai-Auckland-Buenos Aires service, marking the first air link connecting China and South America via New Zealand. The 2X-weekly flights supplement the carrier’s existing daily Shanghai-Auckland operations.


Dec. 4

 

Vietnam Airlines kicked off service between Hanoi and Cebu, Philippines. Service will be flown 3X-weekly with an Airbus A321 aircraft. “The launch of the direct Hanoi to Cebu service aligns with Vietnam Airlines’ strategy to expand its international network, particularly in Southeast Asia, a high-potential market with strong tourism growth,” the carrier said.


JetBlue Airways is adding five new routes from Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (SJU) in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in March 2026. Flights between SJU and Jacksonville, Florida, will commence on March 13 and be flown 4X-weekly. Service will start on March 26 to both Philadelphia (daily) and Richmond, Virginia (3X-weekly). Flights will open on March 27 to both Norfolk, Virginia (4X-weekly) and Buffalo, New York (4X-weekly). In spring 2026, JetBlue will average 40 daily departures from SJU, serving 22 destinations. The carrier also unveiled it will start 3X-weekly service between Buffalo and Fort Meyers, Florida, from March 26, 2026. 


Qatar Airways resumed flights to Australian capital Canberra. The service is being operated daily with a Boeing 777 as part of a three-leg routing from Doha via Melbourne. Other Australian cities served by the airline include Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth and Sydney. 


EasyJet will open service between Liverpool, England, and Naples, Italy, from Aug. 3, 2026. The route will be operated 2X-weekly with an Airbus A320neo aircraft. The service will be the 41st route easyJet will operate from Liverpool.


Dec. 3

 

LOT Polish Airlines will expand its leisure network from May 2026 with a new seasonal service from Warsaw Chopin Airport to Palma de Mallorca. The route will operate three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday using Boeing 737-8 aircraft. “This new route is a natural addition to our range of destinations with strong tourist appeal,” says Robert Ludera, director of LOT’s network department.


Eurowings will grow its Berlin Brandenburg (BER) network for summer 2026, adding six new routes and increasing frequencies across Europe as it grows its based fleet to nine aircraft. The airline will introduce service to London Heathrow, Lisbon, Sarajevo, Olbia, Naples and Kavala. Heathrow will be served up to 12X-weekly, Lisbon up to 3X- weekly and Sarajevo 2X-weekly. Olbia, Naples and Kavala will each see up to 2X-weekly flights. The carrier will also boost frequencies on several existing routes. Mallorca gains six additional weekly flights, Stockholm five, while Zurich and Split each receive two more. Bilbao, Faro, Gothenburg, Helsinki and Larnaca will see one extra weekly service.


British Airways Cityflyer has resumed service between London City Airport and Madrid. Flights will operate 11X-weekly. London City CEO Alison FitzGerald says the return of Madrid “further strengthens our global reach, offering travelers even more choice through key European hubs.” British Airways Cityflyer Managing Director Ian Romanis adds that the schedule is designed to provide “seamless onward connections to Central and South America through our sister airline, Iberia.”


Australian LCC Jetstar has commenced nonstop service from Brisbane to Cebu, Philippines. The seasonal route operates three times weekly with Airbus A321LR aircraft until May 16, 2026, with an additional weekly frequency already added for January due to strong demand. Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff says the service expands the airport’s international network to 35 destinations and offers Queenslanders easier access to “one of Asia's most breathtaking island destinations.” He adds the route will also support the state’s large Filipino community.


Austrian Airlines has resumed nonstop service between Vienna and Dubai after a decade-long absence. The airline is operating 5X-weekly flights 2025 through March 2026 using Airbus A320neos. “We're trying something new, challenging the market a bit and making the best possible use of the capacity of our A320neo fleet during the winter,” Austrian Airlines CEO Annette Mann says. Vienna Airport CEO Julian Jäger adds the return of the service “confirms the strong demand for connections to the Middle East,” noting that Dubai remains a key market for both tourism and business.


Dec. 2

 

Air China will expand its European footprint in March 2026 with the launch of two new routes to Brussels Airport, adding nonstop service from Beijing Capital and Chengdu Tianfu. The move strengthens the carrier’s position in Western Europe and broadens its Star Alliance connectivity through Brussels, where it will join alliance partner Brussels Airlines. Service from Beijing begins March 24 with 5X-weekly flights, increasing to daily from March 29 for the summer season. Chengdu flights start March 26 and will operate three times per week, marking the first passenger link between the Sichuan capital and Brussels.


Jetstar has launched its first Newcastle-Hobart flights, offering 3X-weekly services using Airbus A320s through April 21, 2026. The airline says the route will add more than 22,000 seats during the season. “This is the first time Newcastle and Hobart have ever been connected by air, and we’re thrilled to be making this route a reality,” says Jetstar Executive Manager Commercial Lyle Brownscombe.


China Southern Airlines has resumed its seasonal nonstop Perth-Guangzhou service, restoring a link between Western Australia and mainland China. The carrier is operating 3X-weekly flights on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays using Boeing 787-9s, with frequencies rising to four per week from Dec. 14 for the peak holiday period. The schedule will run through March 2026. Perth Airport Chief Commercial and Aviation Officer Kate Holsgrove said the return of China Southern will provide a boost for Western Australia’s economy, adding that China is the state’s fourth-largest international market with about 65,000 visitors annually.


Wizz Air has opened a new operational base at Warsaw-Modlin Airport, stationing two Airbus A321neo aircraft and launching 11 routes. New services include Alghero, Athens, Barcelona, Bergen, Brindisi, Chisinau, Malta, Milan Bergamo, Paphos, Palermo and Sofia. Frequencies range from 3X-weekly to daily, with 10 routes beginning in December and Alghero set to start in March 2026. The new base is Wizz Air’s sixth in Poland.


Air Transat has formed a new interline partnership with Brazil’s GOL. The agreement will allow Air Transat passengers arriving at Rio de Janeiro Galeao International Airport to connect to more than 80 GOL destinations, including cities such as Sao Paulo, Recife, Salvador, Porto Alegre and Belo Horizonte. “This partnership strengthens our presence in South America and expands our network in a way that perfectly complements our new nonstop service to Rio de Janeiro,” says Air Transat Chief Revenue Officer Sebastian Ponce. Air Transat will launch its first nonstop flights to Rio in February 2026, with 2X-weekly service from Toronto and weekly flights from Montreal.


Air Premia plans to launch 4X-weekly flights between Seoul Incheon and Washington Dulles on April 24, 2026. The route will be operated with Boeing 787-9 aircraft and will place the hybrid long-haul carrier in direct competition with Korean Air. Air Premia currently serves Honolulu, Los Angeles, Newark Liberty and San Francisco in the U.S.


Pakistan’s Fly Jinnah will expand its Saudi Arabia network this month with the launch of nonstop flights from Islamabad to Jeddah and Dammam starting Dec. 1. The airline will operate 6X-weekly flights to Jeddah and 3X-weekly flights to Dammam.


Flynas has signed a memorandum of understanding with Saint Petersburg Airport to explore cooperation and assess the launch of direct flights between Saudi Arabia and the Russian city. The carrier launched Riyadh-Moscow Vnukovo flights in August 2025 and plans to begin Jeddah-Moscow service on Dec. 23. The agreement comes as Saudi Arabia and Russia prepare to implement mutual visa-free travel.


Dec. 1

 

Jetstar has operated its first flights between Hamilton and Christchurch in New Zealand. The new daily service, operated using Airbus A320s, will add more than 135,000 seats annually and offer passengers a direct North-South Island link without transiting through Auckland. The service is the latest in a series of network additions this year, including Hamilton-Gold Coast, Hamilton-Sydney and Dunedin-Gold Coast.


Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and Aeromexico have launched a new codeshare agreement, expanding connectivity between Mexico and Scandinavia across both airlines’ networks. Beginning Dec. 6, SAS passengers will be able to reach Mexico City International Airport from Copenhagen, Stockholm and Oslo via Aeromexico-operated flights from San Francisco, Boston, Newark, Seattle, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Washington and Toronto. Connections beyond Mexico City to Guadalajara and Cancun will also be available. At the same time, Aeromexico travelers will gain access to SAS-operated services across Denmark, Norway and Sweden.


Mavi Gok Airlines (MGA) will begin a new weekly service to Teesside International Airport, England, from the Turkish resort of Antalya next summer. The Turkish carrier will operate the route from July 1 through Oct. 28, with Wednesday departures. Teesside will be MGA’s only UK airport outside London.


Ryanair has announced a record summer 2026 schedule for Pescara Airport, Italy. The ULCC plans to operate 21 routes from the city, including a new service to Tirana and the reinstatement of Milan Bergamo. The airline expects to handle more than 1.3 million passengers annually—an 80% increase compared with 2024. The growth follows a winter 2025-26 schedule that has seen eight new routes.


Virgin Australia has launched its first daily Melbourne-Doha service, expanding its long-haul network and deepening its partnership with Qatar Airways. With the addition of Melbourne, Virgin Australia now offers 4X-daily services between Australia and Doha from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. The carrier says annual capacity across the combined Virgin Australia and Qatar Airways network has increased 53% to 2.65 million seats, with Melbourne Airport estimating that the route will deliver more than A$190 million ($125 million) in economic value to the Australian state of Victoria each year.


Air Arabia has commenced daily nonstop service between Sharjah and Krabi, expanding its Thailand network to three destinations alongside Bangkok and Phuket. “Operating our first flight to Krabi marks another milestone in expanding our network in Southeast Asia,” Air Arabia Group CEO Adel Al Ali says. “This new daily service offers our customers greater convenience and strengthens the growing travel and trade links between the UAE and Thailand.” The route is operated with Airbus A320-family aircraft.
