Oman Air adds Dammam to its expanding network

Oman Air has announced that its new service from Muscat to Dammam, in Saudi Arabia, will be launched on 1st September 2010.

Peter Hill, chief executive officer of Oman Air, said: “We are excited to announce this new destination, which further strengthens our Middle East network. Saudi Arabia is a very important market for Oman Air and, with the launch of our third service to the Kingdom, after Riyadh and Jeddah, we are confident of further reinforcing our position within the Gulf region.

“The bustling city of Dammam blends graceful modernity with tradition and is sure to add value to our rapidly expanding network. In addition to boosting bi-lateral trade between Saudi Arabia and Oman, the new service - which will be operated by state-of-the-art, two-class Boeing 737-700 aircraft - also opens a range of short and long-haul connection options for air travellers in Saudi Arabia flying via Oman Air’s home base of Muscat to destinations around the world.”

Dammam is the largest city in Saudi Arabia ’s Eastern Province and the third largest in the Kingdom after Riyadh and Jeddah. Dammam and the Eastern Province are served by the King Fahd International Airport (KFIA), the largest airport in the world in terms of land area.

Hill added: “Dammam is not only a major oil producing and exporting area, but also a commercial and shipping centre. Since Saudi Arabia welcomes millions of business travellers every year, Dammam is the most preferred destination after Riyadh . With the introduction of this new destination, Oman Air will be providing a vital link for those conducting business in the city.”

Oman Air will operate daily flights departing Muscat at 19:10 and arriving in Dammam at 19:55 local time. The flight from Dammam will leave at 20:45 local time, and arrive in Muscat at 23:10.
