Airports in Latin America and the Caribbean handled 790 million passengers in 2025, up 5% year over year, with Argentina and Brazil showing the strongest growth over 2025, according to Airports Council International-Latin America & Caribbean (ACI-LAC).

During a March 3 presentation at the Routes Americas 2026 conference in Rio de Janeiro, ACI-LAC Industry Affairs Director Francisco Medela Alonso said the organization projects airports in the region will handle around 822 million passengers in 2026, which would be a 4.1% increase over 2025. ACI-LAC expects annual passenger numbers in the region to hit the 1 billion mark in 2032 and increase to 1.9 billion by 2054.

São Paulo-Guarulhos was the busiest airport in the region in 2025, handling 47.1 million passengers, up 8.3% year over year. São Paulo-Congonhas handled 24.5 million passengers in 2025, up 5.9% year over year, over clearly establishing Brazil’s financial center as the busiest market in the region last year.

Bogota-El Dorado placed second in the region in 2025 in terms of total airport passengers at 45.4 million passengers, but the figure was down 0.8%.

Argentina’s airports saw passenger traffic increase 12.6% year over year in 2025, the highest country growth in Latin America and the Caribbean, according to Medela Alonso. Brazil’s airports posted a passenger traffic increase of 9.1% in 2025, second highest.
