LATAM Airlines Brazil has unveiled the first phase of its planned Embraer 195-E2 deployment, using the aircraft type to launch service to four new destinations and expand frequencies across its domestic network.
Between November and March 2027, the airline plans to induct up to 14 E195-E2s. In total, the aircraft will operate across 42 domestic routes during the first phase of deployment, allowing LATAM to open eight new routes, increase capacity on six existing markets and replace larger narrowbodies on selected services.
The expansion will increase LATAM’s Brazilian network to 67 destinations—the largest domestic network in the airline’s history—and represents the first phase of a broader rollout that could see another 18 destinations added during 2027 as additional aircraft are delivered.
“This is just the first phase of our operation with the E195-E2 to shorten distances and allow more Brazilians to connect to Brazil and the world,” LATAM Airlines Brazil CEO Jerome Cadier says. “At the same time, we are already analyzing up to 18 new potential destinations for a second stage of this expansion in 2027, as new aircraft are delivered by Embraer.”
The largest additions will come from Sao Paulo Guarulhos, where LATAM will launch new service to Rondonopolis, Ji-Parana, Cabo Frio and Macae between December and February 2027. Other new routes include Brasilia-Ribeirao Preto, Curitiba-Londrina, Curitiba-Cuiaba and Porto Alegre-Viracopos.
Alongside the new routes, LATAM will add frequencies from Sao Paulo Guarulhos to Palmas, Uberlandia, Cascavel and Uberaba, as well as increasing service between Rio de Janeiro Galeao and Curitiba and between Porto Alegre and Curitiba.
The airline also plans to deploy the E195-E2 on selected frequencies currently operated by Airbus narrowbodies, including flights from Sao Paulo Guarulhos to Brasilia, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Recife, Manaus and Vitoria.
The introduction of the E2s comes as Brazil’s domestic market remains one of the largest and most competitive in Latin America. OAG Schedules Analyser data shows LATAM is currently the country’s largest domestic airline, accounting for about 38.2% of scheduled seat capacity during the northern summer 2026 season. GOL has a 32.9% share, while Azul has 28.8%.
Six of the new routes being launched are current unserved—from Sao Paulo Guarulhos to Rondonopolis, Parana, Cabo Frio and Macae, as well as Brasilia-Ribeirao Preto and Curitiba-Cuiaba—allowing LATAM to stimulate demand without facing direct competition. The exception is Curitiba-Londrina, where Azul already operates ATR 72 service, and Porto Alegre-Viracopos, a market also served by Azul using a mix of E195-E2s and A320-family aircraft.
The network expansion was announced alongside LATAM Airline Group’s second-quarter financial results, which saw the company report net income of $125 million on revenue of $4.2 billion, up 28% year on year. Although fuel-related costs nearly doubled to $1.7 billion—a 93.1% increase compared with the second quarter of 2025—the group said its diversified business model helped offset the impact.
LATAM placed an order for 24 E195-E2s in September 2025 and holds options for 50 more aircraft. However, the group is yet to confirm whether it intends to exercise the options for the additional aircraft.
