KLM returns to Aruba
Skyteam operator KLM will relaunch scheduled services to Aruba from Amsterdam from February 1st next year, almost a year after the carrier discontinued the route, citing poor yields and a falling J class demand.
The new route will be operated on a twice weekly basis with B747-400 aircraft. Aruba will be operated in conjunction with Curacao with an Aruba extending to Curacao.
KLM's return to the market does not mean that KLM subsidary carrier Martinair will cease to fly Aruba. The two carriers aim to serve a different market, with Martinair packaging up their product with tour operator backing, with KLM generally selling seat alone sales with higher yield and greater business traffic share.
