IndiGo will become the launch carrier at New Delhi’s Noida International Airport (DXN) when commercial operations begin on June 15.

The Indian LCC says it will progressively roll out flights from the airport—located in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh—to more than 16 domestic destinations, including major metro markets such as Bengaluru and Hyderabad, alongside secondary cities including Amritsar, Chandigarh, Dharamshala, Jaipur, Lucknow and Srinagar.

Flights to Amritsar and Hyderabad will begin on June 15, followed by Bengaluru and Jammu on June 16. A broader expansion phase from July 1 will add destinations including Navi Mumbai, Bhopal, Dehradun, Jodhpur and Bareilly.

DXN has been developed to serve the fast-growing Delhi National Capital Region alongside Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport and Hindon Airport. Commercial operations were originally expected to begin in late 2025 before repeated construction and certification delays pushed back the opening timeline.

The airport confirmed in early May that services would commence on June 15 after securing approval for its Aerodrome Security Program from India’s Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. IndiGo’s launch will be followed by operations from Akasa Air and Air India Express.

Developed by Yamuna International Airport—a subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG—DXN is one of India’s largest greenfield airport projects. The airport opens with a single runway and terminal capable of handling 12 million passengers annually, although long-term plans envision capacity for more than 70 million passengers through four phases of expansion.

In April, the airport named Nitu Samra as interim CEO until the board concludes a formal selection process. She has been serving as CFO since October 2021. Former CEO Christoph Schnellmann becomes executive vice chairman.
