GMG Airline launches flights from Dhaka to Jeddah

Privately-owned Bangladeshi carrier GMG Airline launched flights from Dhaka to Jeddah on 8 August 2010 as part of its expansion into Saudi Arabia.

It will deploy its new Boeing 767-300ERs on the route.

GMG Airlines has received permission from the civil aviation authorities of both Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia to operate 10 flights per week between the two countries. It will operate six flights from Dhaka to Jeddah and four from Dhaka to Riyadh.

"Entering into the Saudi Arabian market is a big boost for the airline considering the large number of Bangladeshi migrant workers living in Saudi Arabia," says Christian Heinzmann, the carrier's CEO.

"GMG Airlines will soon add more routes and procure aircrafts to meet the growing demands of passengers."
