Emirates SkyCargo has rolled out a new product focused on transporting hardware related to artificial intelligence (AI), citing rising demand for moving the high-value cargo.

The freight arm of Emirates Airline said it carried more than 700 metric tons of AI infrastructure across its global network in July and believes the monthly figure will continue to grow.

SkyCargo will now move such cargo under its new “AI Tech” product offering, which it said is needed to meet the “rapidly evolving needs of the AI sector.”

Equipment to be transported under the AI Tech banner will include server racks, semiconductors, chips, GPUs and other sensitive hardware. SkyCargo said the new offering "combines priority loading, specialized handling and proactive shipment monitoring."

Emirates plans to operate a fleet of 23 Boeing 777 freighters—a mix of new models and conversions—by March 2027, nearly doubling the fleet of 11 777Fs it operated in October 2024. The airline said those freighters will feature “maindeck capacity for the transportation of tall and dense server racks often weighing more than 3.5 [metric] tons.”

SkyCargo said transporting AI-related hardware under “compressed timelines” requires a dedicated service. “With increasing sophistication of computing and processing systems around the world and accelerating adoption of AI technologies, the movement of technology equipment has become increasingly complex,” the carrier said.

SkyCargo Divisional Senior Vice President Badr Abbas said, “Physical infrastructure that needs to arrive safely and on time,” is critical to support AI technology advances.
