Egypt and Indonesia connect with new route

Abdel Aziz Fadel Minister of Civil Aviation received Ambassador Nurfaizi Suwandi Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt; at the Ministry of Aviation premises; to mark the agreement of launching new route between Cairo and Jakarta via Kuala Lumpur.

The new route will start operating by the end of this year.

The Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt confirmed his country’s support to the transitional phase that Egypt is passing through to settle rules and ethics of democracy. Suwandi also stressed “there are no plans to evacuate Indonesian citizens from Egypt as the situation is stable and it has no negative effect on the Indonesians based there”.

The Minister of Egyptian Civil Aviation, Fadel, also expressed his willingness to support Indonesian aviation companies by providing the new-hire Egyptian pilots to work at different Indonesian airliners to cover the expansion of their fleet.

Suwandi confirmed that currently 5500 students are living in Egypt and receiving their education at Al-Azhar University. He was also keen to request to launch some new routes connecting Jakarta to Saint Catherine to serve the Christian Indonesians who wish to visit the holy site.

It was also announced better weight for baggage, special rate and customised services will be offered for Indonesian students visiting Egypt.
