Fresh from announcing plans to enter the Canadian market, Dominican Republic-based startup Arajet has opened reservations for its first flights to Chile.

Starting from Oct. 29, the airline will commence service from its hub at Santo Domingo Las Américas International Airport (SDQ) to Santiago de Chile's Arturo Merino Benitez International Airport (SCL). Flights will operate three times per week and will utilize Boeing 737-8 aircraft.

Chile will become the 14th country served by Arajet since it commenced commercial operations in September 2022. The airline's expanding list of destinations already includes Aruba, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and other countries in the region.

Notably, Arajet will be the sole carrier to offer nonstop connectivity between SDQ and SCL, data provided by OAG Schedules Analyser shows. Additionally, it will be only the second airline to provide service between the Dominican Republic and Chile, with LATAM Airlines Group currently operating one weekly flight between Punta Cana and Santiago.

At 3,580 mi. (3,112 nm), the Santo Domingo-Santiago route will become the fourth farthest to be served by 737-8 equipment. Brazilian LCC GOL Linhas Aereas operates the farthest route at present, at 3,785 mi. (3,289 nm), connecting Brasilia and Orlando, Florida. Virgin Australia’s Cairns-Tokyo Haneda is the second farthest, followed by GOL’s Brasilia-Miami route.

Earlier this month, Arajet revealed it intends to begin flying to Canada on Oct. 24. Service to Toronto Pearson will operate four times per week.
