ANALYSIS: What Were the Busiest O&D City Pairs in the Emirates Network in June 2015?
United Arab Emirates (UAE) carrier, Emirates Airline is a great example of the important role a hub operation can play in supporting individual city pairs. The airline’s Dubai International Airport hub has established itself as the largest international airport in the world thanks in a big part to the operations of Emirates. While a growing number of passengers are beginning or ending their journeys in the metropolis, a significant proportion of Emirates traffic simply uses Dubai as a transit point between two other points.
Using data from Sabre Airport Data Intelligence we highlight the busiest O&D city pairs in the airline’s network in June 2015, excluding its Dubai hub. It is the Jeddah – Jakarta route that was the airline’s busiest in June 2015, ahead of its continuation services to New York from Milan and from Auckland, New Zealand into Australia.
