U.S. ULCC Allegiant Air will launch six new routes in November, including five to Florida, citing “historically high demand from leisure travelers.”

The Las Vegas-based airline, which focuses on connecting passengers from secondary U.S. airports to leisure destinations, will bulk up winter service to Florida, as well as adding a route to Arizona.

The airline will launch flights to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) from two destinations: Nashville International Airport (BNA), in Tennessee, and Eastern Iowa Airport (CID) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The FLL-BNA route will start Nov. 16, while the FLL-CID route will commence on Nov. 17.

Also on Nov. 16, the carrier will start service between Punta Gorda Airport, Florida, and Bangor International Airport in Maine. From Nov. 17, Allegiant will begin flights between Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Melbourne Orlando International Airport, located about 60 miles from Orlando International Airport (MCO).

From Nov. 22, the airline will open service between Minot International Airport, North Dakota, and Orlando Sanford International Airport, located about 35 miles from MCO.

In addition to the five Florida routes, Allegiant will start flights between Portland International Airport, Oregon, and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona.

The airline did not specify frequencies on the new services, but Allegiant generally operates routes around 2X-weekly, adjusted based on demand and time of year.

Eastern Iowa Airport notes FLL will be the ninth destination to which Allegiant operates from CID.

ABE serves as a crew base for Allegiant. “The addition of Melbourne and [Allegiant] recently launching service to Denver demonstrates the strength of this partnership,” the airport's executive director Thomas Stoudt says. “Allegiant’s commitment to the region continues to provide air travelers affordable options.”

Allegiant is an all-Airbus A320-family operator, but will this year begin taking delivery of 50 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft it has on order.
