Alaska Airlines will operate routes to the Bahamas for the first time, launching service to the Caribbean country from two airports on the U.S. West Coast.

From Dec. 15, the carrier will launch seasonal flights to Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) from its Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) base, operating the service 3X-weekly. On the same day, Alaska will also open seasonal service to NAS from Los Angeles International Airport, operating the route 4X-weekly.

Both routes will be flown through April 9, 2024, with a Boeing 737 aircraft. The airline indicates the SEA-NAS route will be operated with a 737-9.

“We’re excited to add a new dot to our route map and believe our guests will appreciate the convenience of nonstop service to the Bahamas this winter,” says Kirsten Amrine, Alaska Airlines' vice president for revenue management and network planning.

SEA Managing Director Lance Lyttle notes the new service will be “the first time Nassau has been served with nonstop service from Seattle.” NAS will be the 101st airport served by Alaska from SEA.

Meanwhile, Alaska is also adding two new seasonal routes from Las Vegas Reid International Airport to Mexico. From Dec. 14, the airline will open 4X-weekly service to Cabo San Lucas International Airport (CSL). The next day, Alaska will start 4X-weekly flights to Puerto Vallarta’s Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR). Both the CSL and PVR routes will be served through early April next year with Embraer E175 aircraft.
