DUBAI—Bahrain's Gulf Air has increased the firm portion of its Boeing 787 order in finalizing the deal at Dubai Airshow on Nov. 18.

In July, Gulf Air signed an initial agreement that covered a dozen 787s and options on a further six which it said would be powered by GEnx engines.

The Bahrain carrier has now upped the firm portion of the order to 15 and taken options on three more.

“We are accelerating our strategy to increase capacity, strengthen long-haul operations, and deliver an elevated, more sustainable travel experience to our passengers,” Gulf Air Group Chairman Khalid Husain Taqi said.

The signing ceremony was attended by Martin Gauss, Gulf Air's new CEO who is just weeks into the role.
