Avianca is Colombia’s flag carrier and one of Latin America’s oldest airlines, founded in 1919.

Headquartered in Bogota, the carrier operates a predominantly Airbus A320-family fleet for short- and medium-haul services, complemented by Boeing 787-8 aircraft on long-haul routes.

Following a Chapter 11 restructuring completed in 2021, Avianca has repositioned itself with a more cost-efficient model, unbundled fares and a simplified fleet structure aimed at improving competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.

The airline is a member of Star Alliance and plays a central role in regional connectivity across the Andean and Central American markets. It also forms part of Abra Group alongside Brazil's GOL.

Avianca is one of the airlines registered to attend the Routes Americas 2026 event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
