Air Mauritius become the second Airbus A350 operator in the Africa/Indian Ocean region beside Ethiopian Airlines. The carrier ordered six A350s and two A330neos as part of a major fleet-renewal program. ATW correspondent Kurt Hofmann joined the delivery flight from Toulouse to Mauritius and gives an exclusive look to the small Indian Ocean airline.

Indian Ocean-based Air Mauritius is in the final stages of evaluating either Airbus or Boeing narrowbody aircraft to replace two A319s and expand its fleet.

An article published on ATWonline Oct. 20 regarding the 328 regional jet erroneously attributed a quote on that program to Sierra Nevada Corp.

Journalists from 18 countries came to Atlanta Oct. 16-18 to see Delta Air Lines publicly debut its first Airbus A350-900, which will enter service in late October on the Detroit-Tokyo Narita route. Delta considers the A350-900 to be its new “flagship” aircraft, replacing the iconic Boeing 747-400 that will soon be retired from the airline’s fleet.

Airbus brings “credibility” to the Bombardier CSeries program that will translate into sales, Airbus COO and president-commercial aircraft Fabrice Brégier said.
