Patrick Ky is the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award at Aviation Week Network's 67th Laureates.
Ky has made a significant positive impact in the field of aviation safety. During his 10 years as the head of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), Ky played a key role in enhancing the profile of the European regulator, establishing it as a strong reference for global safety matters. EASA led initiatives to implement stricter certification standards for the Boeing 777X and to facilitate the ungrounding of 737 MAX. To ensure adequate fire protection, EASA also required Airbus to make substantial modifications to A321XLR.Under Ky's leadership, EASA guided global efforts to safely regulate the emerging advanced air mobility sector.
A former aerospace engineer, Ky previously led Europe’s SESAR air traffic management research project and is now the CEO of the Singapore-based International Centre for Aviation Innovation.
