Video: De Havilland Canada Revives The Shorts 330 As The "Pack Rat"

At the Farnborough Airshow, De Havilland Canada showcased a revival of the Shorts 330, originally debuted 52 years ago in 1974. After acquiring the rights in 2019, the company is reimagining this aircraft as the "Pack Rat" for special missions. 

The displayed aircraft is a unique hybrid—originally built as a Shorts 360 for the U.S. Army, then modified with the twin-fin configuration of the Shorts 330. 

De Havilland envisions diverse applications, from military operations to smokejumper missions fighting forest fires. This phoenix-like resurrection proves that classic aircraft designs can find renewed purpose in modern aviation.
