US Airways Profits Fall As Tax Rate Rises

Taxes took a bigger bite out of US Airways Group's profits in 1998 than in 1997, resulting in a fourth quarter net profit of $104 million, down 78.3%. The company's results were affected by a 40.3% tax rate, up from 15.8% in 1997. Excluding one-time and unusual items, net income still fell 15.8%...
