Azerbaijan orders 14 TAI Hurkus-II trainers as part of major Turkish defense deals including JF-17 fighters, Su-25 upgrades, and a new Aselsan production facility.

The Turkish Aerospace Industries Hurkus-II turboprop trainer has been inducted into Turish Air Force operations.

Turkish Aerospace Industries has secured a military type certificate for the latest version of its Hurkus turboprop trainer.

Western defense primes continue to play an important role in Turkish modernization plans, but Turkey will increasingly rely on domestic purchases, resulting in a 12% increase in the number of in-service Turkish military aircraft from 1,269 today to around 1,467 in 2035.

The manufacturer said the first flight took place on Dec. 30 from the company’s Ankara campus.

Turkey’s indigenous aircraft developments have been bolstered by contracts from the country’s military and government agencies.
