American Airlines is making its first entrance into Africa, as well as expanding its Eastern Europe network and returning to Tel Aviv. Vasu Raja, the airline’s vice president for planning, said the launch of services to Africa was the “first step” in developing its network in the continent.

The shortlists for the prestigious Routes Europe 2018 Marketing Awards have been revealed, with 17 airports and six destinations in the running for an award.
While its rivals Emirates Airlines and Etihad Airways are looking closely at the sustainability of their business models, Qatar Airways shows no signs of slowing its incredible network growth and surprised guests at this year’s Arabian Travel Market in Dubai this week by revealing an additional 12 new markets that should see the airline service in 2018.
The airport, which has recently been named as one of Ryanair’s latest bases, have their sights set on serving the likes of Belfast, Florence and the Baltic regions.
Ryanair first introduced flights into Prague in November 2007 and currently offers at least daily flights from Brussels Charleroi, Dublin and London Stansted. The launch of the base will support the introduction of new daily flights to Bergamo and Rome in Italy and will boost annual capacity by around 100,000 to 625,000 seats.
In a move that will boost capacity in all three markets, the A380s will replace Boeing 777-300ERs during the first half of next year. Emirates will use a two-class A380 on one of its three daily flights between Dubai and Birmingham (EK039/040), while three-class examples will be deployed on its routes from Dubai to Prague and Taipei from May 1, 2016.
Despite the Czech Republic capital, Prague being on Birmingham Airport’s radar for many years, a scheduled meeting in Durban, South Africa in September brought contact and paved the way for the formal announcement of the regular service just five weeks later.
Air Canada will use its leisure airline, Air Canada rouge to add flights to Budapest, Glasgow and Warsaw and resume a link to Prague last served in the 1970s, while Air Transat will offer new flights from Canada to Glasgow, Nice, Pisa, Rome and Zagreb.
Like many UK airports, Liverpool John Lennon Airport has had a strong 2015 and recorded its seventh consecutive month of growth during August, with year-on-year passenger growth of 7.24 per cent. Total passengers for August exceeded 470,000 with increases in available seat capacity and strong load factor performance contributing to the impressive growth this year.
The airline will launch flights between Łódź and Prague and between Łódź and Rzeszów and Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, in the UK. These will launch from July 14, 2015 and will operate on a twice weekly basis using an all-Economy, 144-seat seat Airbus A319.
The start-up will inaugurate flights on April 2, 2015 with a three times weekly links to Budapest and Prague, while three times weekly flights to the Italian destinations of Milan and Rome will follow from April 3, 2015.
