Spanish regional airline Air Nostrum has handed its wet-lease flying to CityJet, as the two companies begin to roll out their post-merger integration.

The airlines remain financially independent and will keep their headquarters, staff, brands and structures separately.

Two routes are being launched from the city, located on southern France’s Mediterranean coast.

Irish regional carrier CityJet has secured a two-year wet-lease deal with Brussels Airlines to operate three Sukhoi SSJ100 Superjets for the Belgian flag carrier on routes from Brussels Airport from April 2017. The deal follows a formal tender from Brussels Airlines to support its network needs as it completes the retirement of its Avro RJ100 fleet from commercial operation.

Irish regional carrier CityJet has reached a heads of terms agreement with Stobart Group to launch a network of up to 18 routes from London’s Southend Airport. The proposed up to four aircraft operation from April 2017 will bring up to 600,000 new passengers to Essex airport and complement the existing operations from easyJet.

As part of its profitability strategy, SAS is turning to regional partners to more efficiently feed its hub airports through the operation of smaller capacity aircraft into lower demand markets. It already has arrangements in place with Cimber Air and Flybe using a mix of Bombardier CRJ900 jets and ATR turboprop equipment.

CityJet will offer 18 flights a week on the route with three rotations every weekday, one flight on Saturdays and two every Sunday from October 1, 2015. It will be the only link between Cork and the Docklands airport and will complement the flights of Aer Lingus to Heathrow and Ryanair to Gatwick and Stansted, in the UK capital.

Irish regional airline, CityJet will end its flights from Cardiff to Edinburgh and Paris from June 29, after the airline criticised Cardiff Airport’s decision to support flybe in setting up competitor routes to the two European cities.

Currently Blue Islands operate alternate day direct flights from Jersey to Amsterdam and Paris and twice weekly services to Zurich, which customers, especially the high yield business travellers that help support regional air links, find inconvenient.

The new combined contract will operate from February 1, 2015 until January 31, 2017 and may be extended for a further period of a maximum of one year, following the initial two year period, subject to a satisfactory review undertaken after the initial period of 18 months of operation.
