Aeronautical Engineers will provide a Boeing 737-400SF freighter conversion to Aviation Capital Group. Atran Cargo Airlines, based in Moscow, will operate the freighter after its completion. Amavco acquired Field Aviation from Field's parent firm, Hunting PLC. Field Aviation is an aircraft modification and parts manufacturing company with locations in Toronto, Calgary, Seattle and Cincinnati. Amavco says it is identifying sites for its first U.S. modification center. Facilities
Jet Midwest Technik appointed Eric Haymes as president of its maintenance operation in Kansas City, Mo. Haymes is the founder of Mojave Jet, a commercial aircraft trading company.
For years, Pratt & Whitney Automation has been using its patented waterjet technology to remove coatings for commercial, military and space customers. Now, it has perfected that process to remove many more types of coatings, including high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) coatings. Pratt & Whitney refers to this alternative waterjet technology as Pure Pulse, as it uses ultrasonically pulsed water to remove the coatings rather than harsh chemicals.
Timco Aviation Services named Pete Laszcz as general manager of its Greensboro, N.C., airframe operations. He replaces Mike Anderson, who left the company. Laszcz most recently was a managing director at American Airlines' MRO division.
Goodrich signed an agreement with Rolls-Royce for nacelle maintenance services for British Airways as part of its Total Care support program. The contract will start when British Airways receives its first Boeing 787; Goodrich will complete the work at its facility in Prestwick, Scotland.
Air Canada will consider an international MRO provider as a permanent replacement for Aveos Fleet Performance but in an attempt to appease domestic opposition to such a move, the carrier says that it will prefer those providers who “have or will establish some portion of their operation in Montreal, Winnipeg, Vancouver and Toronto.” The airline, which has rebutted charges from Aveos that the carrier caused the MRO's bankruptcy, also notes a recent legal opinion issued by the Canadian government that Air Canada meets the requirements demanding minimum levels of MRO work sta

Southwest Airlines and AirTran Airways' unions representing aircraft mechanics reached a tentative seniority integration agreement. Southwest hopes to announce the results from the voting on June 21, according to an industry source. AMFA represents 1,600 mechanics at Southwest and the IBT represents about 400 at AirTran.
Aerostar's new maintenance hangar in Bacau, Romania, will double the MRO's capacity and open new opportunities for widebody and regional contracts. Ovidiu Buhai, Aerostar's director of aviation MRO, expected the 5,000-sq.-meter (54,000-sq.-ft.) hangar to open in mid-May. The new building will have four bays with the capacity to hold four narrowbody aircraft at once, but it is also tall enough to house a Boeing 767-sized widebody. The building sits near Aerostar's current four-bay hangar near Bacau International Airport.

Bombardier Aerospace signed a comprehensive, five-year component agreement with Luxair Airline to extend its Smart Parts program coverage for Luxair's six Q400 NextGen turboprops. The deal includes scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, AOG support and parts availability.
AAR received an FAA STC to perform an oxygen system retrofit on a Boeing 747-400 aircraft. A third-party maintenance and modification center in Asia conducted the oxygen system retrofit with support from AAR Engineering Services teams based in Indianapolis and Singapore.
