From The Archives: North American XSM-64 Navaho

XSM-64

North American XSM-64 Navaho supersonic intercontinental guided missile is photographed on the launch pad at Cape Canaveral, Florida. 

Navaho is powered by two Wright RJ47 ramjets. Jettisonable booster separates at predetermined altitude and speed. Missile has inertial guidance, infrared homing. 

The Navaho project was canceled in July. Tips of delta-wings are equipped with aerodynamically balanced control surfaces.
