From The Archives: Space Shuttle Engine Tested
The first space shuttle main engine underwent a 45-sec., 76% power level firing test at NASA's National Space Technologies Bay, St. Louis, Missouri. Small 35:1 nozzles were being used during early tests, with flight-size 77:1 nozzles to be used later in the summer of 1976.
