From The Archives: Grumman Shuttle Confirguration
Grumman Aerospace Corp. space shuttle design has a booster suing 12 rocket engines using 4,000 lb thrust each on an airframe 208 ft. wing span. Eight turbojets on swingout pods will control booster during reentry. Orbiter is 146 ft. and is powered by a pair of 400,000 lb. thrust engines with four turbofans for maneuvering.
