From The Archives: FleetSatComm In Test Chamber

On the cover of the May 31, 1976 issue of Aviation Week & Space Technology, we can see an image of the Navy/Air Force fleet satellite communications qualification model undergoing rigorous testing in an anechoic chamber at TRW Space & Defense Systems Group.

The satellite, designed to support fleet communications and Strategic Air Command emergency operations, was originally scheduled for its inaugural launch in late 1977.
