German MRO provider Lufthansa Technik has announced a raft of management changes across business divisions worldwide.
In May, Michael Kirstein took over as vice president of the company’s transformation office, where he will oversee Lufthansa Technik’s (LHT) Ambition 2030 growth strategy. As part of the initiative, aimed at further expanding LHT as a global leader in MRO, LHT plans to invest €1.2 billion ($1.3 billion) into the company over the next four years.
Kirstein was previously responsible for the operations in LHT’s engine services segment, a role he assumed in 2021.
His successor in the engine business is Derrick Siebert, who recently moved from his role as vice president of commercial engine services to vice president of operations in the engine services unit, which runs out of LHT’s headquarters in Hamburg.
In June, Georg Fanta, formerly vice president of commercial aircraft component services, has assumed the role of vice president of commercial in the engine division. He is succeeded in the role by Berit Plewinsky, who previously held the position of senior director of product sales and fulfillment single events and closed loop in the aircraft component segment of the maintenance giant.
At the beginning of last month, Thomas Illner, previously CEO of Tulsa, Oklahoma-based LHT subsidiary BizJet International, became managing director and head of the Americas region at Lufthansa Technik Component Services, also based in the U.S. city.
After a busy summer of management changes, LHT has continued reshuffling its leadership this month. Tim-Oliver Fedeler, former head of digital innovation in the component segment, assumed the role of managing director of its Hong Kong-based Lufthansa Technik Component Services Asia Pacific subsidiary. Fedeler will also take on the role of senior director of product sales and fulfillment in the Asia-Pacific region. Meanwhile, Jens Michel, previously head of legal affairs for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), is now vice president of sales for the Northeast Asia region.
Lufthansa Technik Intercoat—a joint venture with Intercon Holding based in Kaltenkirchen, north of Hamburg—has appointed a new managing director. Alexander Sixt will head up the operation after previously being responsible for the global competence center warehouse and aircraft maintenance solutions at Lufthansa Technik Logistik.
Later this month, Fabian Nagel, former senior director of procurement for engines and airframe, will become vice president of sales for VIP and special aircraft services. He succeeds Wieland Timm, who retires in September after more than 20 years with the company.
