Embraer has picked Dutch aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) shop Fokker Services to work on the KC-390 tanker/transport aircraft the Royal Netherlands Air Force will receive.

Under the agreement announced Nov. 3, Fokker will provide field service representatives and support to help ease the service entry of the new platform, the companies said.

The deal comes as the Netherlands looks to tap commercial MRO capabilities more heavily to support its fleet. KLM, for instance, is getting involved in supporting the military’s rotorcraft fleet.

The Netherlands selected the KC-390 in 2022 to replace its Lockheed Martin C-130s. It has five aircraft on firm order.

“We look forward to creating long-term value through strategic collaboration in the Netherlands for years to come,” Frederico Lemos, chief commercial officer for Embraer’s defense operations, said in a statement.
