Scotland
Ryanair is planning to expand its base maintenance facility at Glasgow Prestwick Airport, adding four additional maintenance bays and new on-site component shops. The airline expects the expanded facility to create 450 new engineering and mechanic jobs.
England
Ontic has been combining its three UK MRO sites into one refurbished facility near Tewkesbury. The company has been transferring its product lines to Tewkesbury since March and expects the process to be completed by early 2027.
Portugal
Lufthansa Technik broke ground on its new facility in Santa Maria da Feira in June. The company expects the new facility to create 700 jobs and begin operations in 2028.

TAP Air Portugal is building a new two-bay base maintenance facility at Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport. Scheduled to open by 2028, the facility will have capacity for two Airbus A321s or similar aircraft and provide both internal and third-party support.
Spain
Ryanair opened a new €25 million ($29 million) maintenance facility at Madrid Barajas Airport in March. It increases the airline’s total capacity there to eight lines of aircraft maintenance.

SR Technics opened a new engine facility in Bad Zurzach in January that focuses on quick-turn engine MRO for CFM International CFM56-5B/-7B and Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines.

Swiss International Airlines broke ground on construction for a new composite shop at Zurich Airport in late August. The airline says the shop will enable it to handle more repairs in-house and it expects the facility to be operational by the end of 2027.
Germany
Condor began constructing a new temporary hangar at Frankfurt Airport in June that is expected to open in early 2027. The 6,400-m2 (69,000-ft.2) structure will be able to accommodate Condor Technik’s maintenance work on either an A330 or two A320-family aircraft simultaneously.
Lithuania
GetJet Group is investing €25 million in a new narrowbody aircraft maintenance facility for its subsidiary, Airhub Aviation, at Vilnius International Airport. The hangar is expected to become operational in 2029.
Poland
LOT Aircraft Maintenance Services opened a new hangar in Rzeszow-Jasionka in early September. The hangar can accommodate five narrowbodies or two widebodies simultaneously and includes support workshops for services such as specialized nondestructive testing and composite repairs.
Malta
Lufthansa Technik Malta is building a new 6,400-m2 hangar that will be dedicated to Boeing 787 base maintenance and cabin modifications. The company expects to open the hangar by year-end.
Turkey
Turkish Technic opened its seventh hangar at Ataturk Airport in August, increasing its capacity there to accommodate 57 aircraft simultaneously. The company is also planning to build a new engine MRO facility close to its Istanbul base to service Rolls-Royce Trent engines, which is scheduled to begin operating by the end of 2027.
Maintenance providers across Europe are opening and expanding facilities to boost capacity and capabilities.
