SINGAPORE—ST Engineering and Safran Aircraft Engines have entered a two-year agreement that will see the Singaporean company provide module repair offload support for the CFM Leap 1A and 1B engines.
Safran will offload module repair work on the high-pressure turbine (HPT) rotor assembly and stage 2 HPT nozzle assembly of the Leap 1 engines to ST Engineering, which promises to improve the turnaround time of engine customers' shop visits. The agreement includes options to extend the arrangement.
Adding the new capability is the latest step by ST Engineering to provide the full suite of MRO services for both Leap 1A and Leap 1B engines. These include Leap 1A engine testing, which is expected to be ready by the end of the current quarter; ST Engineering already has Leap 1B engine testing capability.
ST Engineering was the first independent MRO provider in Asia to secure a CFM Branded Service Agreement, a status which was sealed in 2023.

"We are well positioned to address the rising demand for quick-turn and performance restoration shop visits for Leap engines, having made the investments in equipment such as shroud grinding machinery, and built up a strong team of skilled technicians.”
The Aviation Week Network Fleet Discovery database shows there are 1,057 aircraft equipped with the Leap 1A/B engines operating across the Asia-Pacific region including China and India, with another 2,960 aircraft on order.
