Sanad’s rebuilt Rolls-Royce Trent 700.
Sanad’s recent sale of a rebuilt Rolls-Royce Trent 700 to a Chinese lessor underscores the aftermarket provider’s expanding engine services offerings and customer base.
The company’s Asset Management business sold the engine to Hong Kong-based Asia Pacific Aviation Leasing Group (APALG). The deal is Sanad Asset Management’s first agreement with a Chinese customer and involved the first engine delivered through its Trent 700 rebuild program.
Launched at the November 2025 Dubai Air Show, Sanad’s Asset Management business bundles complementary aftermarket services under one umbrella. Initial asset purchases included four Trent 700s from Etihad Airways and one from Rolls-Royce & Partners Finance as well as two IAE V2500s—one from FTAI Aviation and one from Magellan Aviation Group.
The latest deal, announced during the recent Aviation Week MRO Asia-Pacific conference, gives the Abu Dhabi-based company momentum in the fast-growing Asia-Pacific market.
“This agreement with APALG marks an important milestone for Sanad as we expand our presence in Asia, bringing our first Trent 700 rebuilt engine to a market with strong and growing demand," said Sanad Group CEO Mansoor Janahi. “It demonstrates the value of combining our Asset Management and MRO capabilities to deliver integrated engine solutions.”
APALG Group Chairman Hongwei Zhao called the deal “an important first step in our relationship,” with “significant potential” to expand their collaboration to meet market needs.
“As demand for the A330 platform and Trent 700 engine continues across China and Asia-Pacific, access to high-quality, reliable engine assets remains increasingly important,” Zhao added. “Sanad’s deep technical expertise and established Trent 700 capabilities made them a natural partner for APALG.”
Backed by Mubadala Investment Co., Sanad services Trent 700s under a partnership with Rolls-Royce that launched in 2012. The companies last year extended the agreement, which now covers up to 612 shop visits through 2031. The model accounts for about 250 shop visits annually.
The active Trent 700 fleet numbers about 1,500 engines, Aviation Week Fleet Discovery data show. Spares and stored engines account for another 100.
