Safran Aircraft Engines opened a second facility on June 30 in Queretaro, north of Mexico City, that serves as the Central American repair hub for Leap-1A and -1B engines. The $140 million investment in the 50,000-m2 (538,200-ft.2) facility also includes a test cell that should have a capacity to test 350 engines per year by 2030. The shop is about 5 km (3.1 mi.) from another in Queretaro that services CFM56 engines.
