Aftermarket parts supplier Aventure Aviation has significantly boosted its narrowbody inventory with what it says is its largest aircraft deal to date.

The company has acquired 12 former Alaska Airlines Boeing 737NGs that will undergo teardown in phases at Ascent Aviation Services in Arizona.

Aventure Aviation Founder and CEO Zaheer Faruqi tells Aviation Week Network the first four aircraft will be disassembled starting next week and the remaining aircraft will likely be torn down within the next 6-8 months, depending upon market supply and demand.

The aircraft follow two other 737NG airframe acquisitions Aventure Aviation made earlier this year. The company purchased a 737NG formerly operated by Southwest Airlines in May and a 737NG formerly operated by Brazil’s GOL Airlines in March, both of which are being dismantled at Ascent Aviation Services’ facility in Marana, Arizona. The latest acquisition brings Aventure’s total 737NG inventory to 38 airframes.

In the case of the latest acquisition, “Each aircraft was owned and operated solely by Alaska Airlines for its entire life cycle,” says Aventure Aviation President Talha Faruqi. “This provides a well-documented service record from one of the world’s leading airlines, enhancing both traceability and component reliability.”

In 2024, Faruqi told Aviation Week Network that 737NG used serviceable material demand was at an all-time high, driven partly by long lead times for key items and a lower supply of retired airframes. He now says Boeing’s restart of production is “helping operators to start phasing out their retirement candidates,” but that the FAA’s monthly delivery restrictions for the OEM means “teardown candidates are still in short supply but inventory level of rotable parts is slowly climbing.”

Andrew Crombie, Aventure’s director of asset management, says the acquisitions “come at a pivotal moment, as we are set to complete the construction of our new facility in Peachtree City.” He adds, “This will provide us with five times our current warehouse space and further enhance our ability to manage and support this significant expansion to our 737NG inventory.”

The new facility will be adjacent to Aventure Aviation’s headquarters and built in phases. The first phase includes a 70,000 ft.2 warehouse and the second phase will consist of a 54,000 ft.2 office and 36,000 ft.2 of additional warehouse space. Faruqi says the warehouse is expected to be ready for move-in by early August, while phase two “will be completed once we have reached certain parameters in our business strategy.”
