I think the bigger story here is why this new OPSEC policy was implemented. My guess is that U.S. intelligence services have discovered the extent and accuracy of foreign "open source" gathering activities. U.S. and foreign intelligence analysts are trained to piece together open source information in order to target technology, capabilities, strategy and tactics. Bits of information can provide alarmingly complete pictures of classified programs and technology. The tensor in our Republic is, of course, transparency as opposed to the rest of the "great powers". The disclosure line has, at least temporarily, moved closer to the dark side.
