Drones are delivering high-demand parts within a 12-mi. radius of car dealerships in Southeast Michigan in a project by Jack Demmer Automotive Group, Airspace Link and tiltrotor drone maker blueflite, supported by $740,000 from Michigan's AAM Activation Fund.

EHang eVTOL Flies In Hong Kong's Low-Altitude Sandbox

AIR Names Servo Supplier For Cargo eVTOL

AIR has selected Israel's Elmo Motion Control to supply high-power-density servo drives for the startup's Heavy Lift uncrewed aircraft system (UAS). The 805-volt servo drives control the uncrewed electric vertical-takeoff-and-landing (eVTOL) cargo aircraft's eight electric propulsion motors.

Apollo, KKR Partners To Support Atlantic Aviation

Apollo and KKR have formed a strategic partnership to support Atlantic Aviation, with Apollo-managed funds acquiring a significant interest while KKR-managed funds remain a substantial shareholder. The transaction values Atlantic Aviation, one of the largest U.S. fixed-based operation (FBO) networks, at nearly $10 billion.

Atlantic Aviation To Open New Nashville FBO

Atlantic Aviation has begun construction of a new FBO at John C. Tune Airport near Nashville that is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2027. The development will include a 7,500-ft.2 terminal, 37,000-ft.2 hangar and office complex, 175,000 ft.2 of ramp space and fuel storage for 60,000 gal. of Jet-A and 12,000 gal. of 100LL.

SkyDrive Signs Up Australian eVTOL Tourism Customer

Japan’s SkyDrive has signed a letter of intent with Gold Coast Helitours, a helicopter operator based in Gold Coast, Australia, for the purchase of five SD-05s to launch an eVTOL sightseeing service in 2028, flying a10-min. scenic loop out of an existing heliport at Marina Mirage, Main Beach.

MD Aircraft To Cooperate With Scandinavian AAM Test Arena

German startup MD Aircraft has signed an MOU with the Green Flyaway initiative to cooperate on electric aviation in the Mid-Scandinavian region. Green Flyaway is a cross-border project between Norway and Sweden to provide test arena for AAM, with sites at Ostersund and Roros.

Michigan’s AAM Initiative Funds Pilot Projects

Michigan has awarded $2 million to five AAM pilot projects for air and water quality monitoring (with Kohtari), pesticide drift investigation (AVOL), wildfire monitoring (Orb Aerospace), road intelligence (Westwood AI) and drone detection (Motorola Solutions).

Joby Files To Sell Shares, Raise More Funds

Joby Aviation has filed with the SEC to raise up to $750 million through the sale of shares. The eVTOL developer ended the second quarter with $2.3 billion in cash, having spent $365 million in the first half of the year. The startup expects to spend another $385-415 million in the second half.

Electra Demonstrates eSTOL At Historic Bader Field

Electra conducted New Jersey’s first AAM demonstration on Aug. 14, with its EL2 Ultra Short hybrid-electric demonstrator landing and taking off 150 ft. from Bader Field, a disused airport in downtown Atlantic City. Closed in 2006, Bader Field was the first U.S. municipal airport.

Eve Named Mobility Partner For Orlando Redevelopment

Eve Air Mobility has been selected as the preferred AAM partner and eVTOL aircraft provider for the Green District Smart City development, a planned $2 billion project to revitalize the Parramore district in Orlando, Florida. Groundbreaking is planned for summer 2027.

China’s AutoFlight has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Indonesian helicopter operator Whitesky Aviation for 60 V2000EM Prosperity passenger eVTOLs. Whitesky also operates Cengkareng Heliport, located next to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

Best Jets International Completes FAA Proving Runs

Best Jets International has successfully completed the required FAA proving runs for its planned Part 121 supplemental operations, marking a major milestone in the company’s expansion into higher-capacity charter operations. Proving runs allow the FAA to evaluate an operator’s personnel, aircraft, procedures and other factors. Best Jets plans to operate a fleet of four Embraer E170 aircraft. Upon approval, Best Jets will operate under Part 121 and Part 135. Best Jets began operations in 1995.
