I'm still skeptical of battery power as I flew a lot of early R/C models back in the early 80's, 90's and 2000's. Rupture a pack on a hard landing with a model and a pack short circuit would heat up and incinerate a wood, plastic or fiberglass model in no time. I always carried a dry fire extinguisher to a field when I flew electric. Didn't have to do that with glow or 4 stroke powered motors though I did it anyways. I think electric at this time is a too far away to do safely. Yeah folks say with a "crash" on a JP4 aircraft can burn just the same. If they know they are in distress, they can dump fuel to minimize the fire risk on a forced landing. With electric, there is no way to rapidly discharge the energy safely unless the engineers have figured that out! Would still take a real, big pile of heat dissipation of which could likely melt Al fuselages!!
