West Star Aviation is planning major facility expansions over the next three to five years for its sites in East Alton, Illinois; Grand Junction, Colorado; and Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The move is to keep up with growing demand for maintenance, overhaul and repair services, the company says.

“This expansion plan is our most aggressive investment in our future to date,” says Jim Rankin, West Star CEO. “We are committed to implementing sustainable growth that benefits both our customers and our employees ... These expansion projects will ensure West Star Aviation will be well positioned to meet customer needs for the next five years and beyond.”

Expansion plans for the East Alton site include a 40,000-sq.-ft. general use hangar and a 48,000-sq.-ft. dedicated paint shop and hangar. When combined with its existing paint shop, its paint facilities will significantly increase capacity, the company says. The additions will bring the facility to more than 400,000 sq. ft. of office, hangar and shop space and more than 200,000 sq. ft. of ramp space.

West Star’s facility in Grand Junction will include a new 40,000-sq.-ft. hangar and 35,000 sq. ft. of shop and office space. The shop space will include a larger interior shop, composite shop and tool room. The facility will focus on the expansion of its large aircraft capability. Expansion is expected to be completed in 2023. The expansion will grow West Star’s facilities from 304,000 sq. ft of office, shop and hangar space to about 379,000 sq. ft.

Expansion at West Star’s Chattanooga location includes a new 40,000-sq.-ft. hangar and 17,000 sq. ft. of new shop and support space. The company also plans to lease an existing 20,000-sq.-ft. hangar from Chattanooga Airport. The work will expand the facility from 179,828 sq. ft. to about 266,000 sq. ft.
