Gulfstream Changes China Service Network

Gulfstream Aerospace ceased operating its company-owned service center at Beijing Capital airport and at the same time added three authorized warranty facilities to its network on July 18.

The three new warranty centers include Deer Jet in Beijing, Business Aviation Asia in Shenzhen and ExecuJet Haite Aviation Services China in Tianjin. They will provide warranty repairs and maintenance of G280, G500, G600, G650 and G650ER jets.

When asked why Gulfstream decided to close its facility in Beijing and replace it with these three service providers, a company representative said, “The expanded network of support allows Gulfstream to further support customers based in China and traveling throughout the region, including Shenzhen, Nanjing, Tianjin and Beijing.”

Before these changes, Gulfstream operated the facility at Beijing Capital and had two authorized warranty centers—Metrojet in Hong Kong and Shanghai Hawker Pacific in Shanghai. Those two aftermarket service providers will continue being part of the Gulfstream warranty network—bringing the total to five in the region.

Gulfstream also has two authorized service centers, which provide a broader range of maintenance services, in the region—Jet Aviation’s facilities in Hong Kong and Singapore. Jet Aviation, like Gulfstream, is owned by General Dynamics. 

Gulfstream’s company-owned service center in Beijing was one of the first, if not the first, OEM-owned business jet service facility when it opened in November 2012. It included about 70,000-ft.² (6,503 m²) of hangar space, as well as backshops, office, warehouse space and training.

Gulfstream says more than 3,000 of its aircraft are in service worldwide but did not disclose how many operate in China.
