From The Archives: Gulfstream American Commander 1000

sep 28 1981

On the cover of the Sept. 28, 1981, issue of Aviation Week & Space Technology was a first-production Gulfstream American Commander 1000 flying over western Oklahoma during a photography mission from Gulfstream's Bethany, Oklahoma, facility.

The Commander 1000 had a larger cabin, five transport-type windows and a higher flat-rating of its Garrett TPE331-10-501K turboprop engines than the Commander 980.

Gulfstream had planned to build 23 of the 1000 in 1981 and 48 in 1982.
