During the first quarter of 2021, 211 business aviation aircraft transactions were finalized, while another 246 aircraft were put under contract by members of the International Aircraft Dealers Association, and 41 deals fell apart, IADA said.
During the fourth quarter of 2020, 554 deals were closed, with 295 placed under contract, while 36 fell apart, the association said.
IADA members typically average more than 700 transactions and $6 billion in sales per year. During the past 12 months, from April 1, 2020, to March 31, 2021, they registered more than 1,200 global transactions worth more than $10 billion.
In the next six months, IADA members said they expect a slight sales increase, with the strongest areas of growth in the light and midsized jet markets, said Wayne Starling, IADA executive director.
“This IADA data clearly indicates that the aviation industry has proven its resilience through the economic fluctuations brought about by the pandemic, and is now on a trajectory for continued success,” Starling said.
