FARNBOROUGH, England—Malta is to boost its maritime patrol capabilities with the acquisition of a new-build Beechcraft King Air 360ER.
The new King Air has already been built and delivered to Aerodata AG in Braunschweig, Germany, Textron Aviation announced July 20 here at the Farnborough Airshow. Aerodata will configure the aircraft for the maritime patrol mission with a search radar and electro-optical camera systems. The Armed Forces of Malta already operate a trio of King Air 200s for maritime patrol, Aviation Week's Fleet Discovery Military Database shows. Delivery of the fully configured King Air is expected in 2027.
Meanwhile, the airframer has also announced an order for 10 Cessna 172 Skyhawk training aircraft for the Egyptian Aviation Academy (EAA), which is based in 6th of October City outside Cairo.
The order adds to the EAA’s existing training fleet, which includes a variety of aircraft from Textron's product line including the Cessna Citation Mustang, Cessna Skyhawk, Beechcraft Baron and Beechcraft Bonanza. The new Cessna 172s will be delivered to Egypt through 2027.
