VietJet Air has signed a lease agreement with SPDB Financial Leasing for 10 Comac C909 aircraft, expanding its fleet of Chinese-built jets to 12.
The aircraft are expected to be deployed primarily on routes between Vietnam and China, although the airline did not disclose a delivery timeline.
“This step contributes to optimizing the operational efficiency of VietJet’s fleet, while diversifying financial resources and enhancing access to international capital markets,” the carrier said.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of Vietnamese President To Lam’s visit to Beijing. VietJet also announced five new China routes, including services to Enshi, Guilin, Hangzhou and Huangshan.
VietJet has been operating two C909s on routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao under a wet-lease agreement with Chengdu Airlines since April 2025, with a brief suspension in October 2025.
The new lease is also expected to support crew training and broader familiarization with Comac aircraft within the airline.
Aviation Week contacted VietJet for additional information.
