Regional aircraft manufacturer De Havilland Canada has been seeking airline feedback on its future strategy for the Dash 8 turboprop program, including the potential for a “new” Dash 8.
Over the past few months, De Havilland Canada has formed a “product strategy council” and held meetings with operators in North America, Oceania, Japan, Africa and Europe, quizzing them on their future requirements.
“[We] are working hard to provide a roadmap to our customers that outlines the future of the Dash 8 program,” De Havilland Canada VP sales and marketing Ryan DeBrusk said.
The talks come as De Havilland Canada prepares to open new production facilities at De Havilland Field, near Calgary, in the latter half of this decade.
“The time is right to determine what operators are looking for in their fleet planning, and where a new Dash 8 might fit in,” De Havilland Canada said.
In the meantime, the airframer will continue to develop product improvements, including cargo conversion upgrades, cabin enhancements, and avionics upgrades, as well as its life-extension program.
