Qatar Airways has become the world’s first airline to equip Boeing 787-8s with Starlink satellite internet, expanding high-speed inflight connectivity across more of its long-haul fleet.
Currently, three of Qatar Airways’ 787s are operating with Starlink, bringing the total number of Starlink-enabled widebody aircraft in its fleet to nearly 120. The Doha-based airline completed a full Starlink rollout across its Airbus A350 fleet in December 2025, a process it described as “record-breaking” for taking just eight months.
Within 14 months, Qatar Airways launched and completed Starlink installations on its Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 aircraft before extending the service to the 787s.
“This progress cements the airline’s position as the global leader in Starlink-enabled long-haul and ultra-long-haul connectivity,” the airline said in a statement. “It also marks the world’s first and largest Starlink-equipped A350 fleet, building on Qatar Airways’ legacy as the aircraft’s global launch customer.”
Starlink connected over 21 million passengers worldwide in 2025, the airline said, with Qatar Airways accounting for nearly half of that number—more than 10 million passengers.
