During the last few weeks airlines from all over the world have been voting for the 2012 World Routes Awards, which this year will be sponsored by OAG, and the deadline to nominate your chosen airports has been extended until Friday 31stAugust.
For those who feel they would like to be considered for an Award in Abu Dhabi the procedure is simple; campaign your airline contacts and ask them to vote for you on our website here. Once the airline network planning community has voted, the votes will be counted and the shortlisted airports contacted and asked for a submission to support their nomination which will be judged by a panel of leading industry experts.
This submission process is designed to enable the shortlisted airports to provide information for the judging panel as to why they think they should win the award, providing evidence to support their case. The judges will score each nomination on a number of criteria including innovative ways of marketing to airlines, evidence of the relationships with the airline and results.
This year seniority of the panel is incredibly high with top level personnel from airlines and suppliers the world over. A variety of carriers are represented on the panel from low cost to legacy from many different regions and includes Heads of Network Planning, Strategic Advisors and CEOs.
This year there will be 5 main Airport Award categories split by region as follows:
- Americas
- Asia
- Europe
- CIS
- Africa
The Airport Marketing Awards this year will also include a special award for Airports Under Four Million Passengers and during the ceremony presentations of a Tourism Award and the ORBIS Award for Social Responsibility will also take place.
Winners of these prestigious industry awards will be announced during a ceremony which will take place at the Abu Dhabi Networking Evening on Monday 1stOctober at the Yas Marina Circuit, home of the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix racing circuit.
Voting will now remain open until Friday 31st August 2012 and shortlisted airports will be announced shortly after this deadline.
