WORLD ROUTES 2011: Tolmachevo Airport Appoints ASM to Help Secure 21 New International Routes

Novosibirsk Airport Tolmachevo, Russia’s sixth largest airport, has engaged Airport Strategy and Marketing (ASM) to provide a wide range of strategic and tactical consultancy services to help the airport expand its international operations.

ASM, a UBM Aviation brand, has identified 21 viable route development opportunities in Europe and Asia following a preliminary market sizing and traffic forecasting study. While some of these business cases involve increasing flight frequencies with existing partner airlines, many offer significant business potential for Tolmachevo Airport to partner with new carriers.

Alexander Borodin, General Director, Tolmachevo Airport, said: “Our airport is enjoying a period of intense growth and we are on target to handle 2.75 million passengers this year – an increase of around 60 per cent in two years. It is important for us and for the local community that we sustain this momentum and we will be looking to ASM’s expertise and experience to help us develop robust business cases to expand our route network.”

“The Novosibirsk location offers tremendous opportunities for Tolmachevo Airport to strengthen its reputation as a premier transit hub for routes between Europe and Asia,” said Tony Griffin, Senior Vice President, ASM. “Our initial analysis indicates some significant potential demand for more air services to Tolmachevo and we will be supporting our client as much as possible to help them secure new airline partners and expand their international route network.”
