Wizz discontinues French link
Hungarian based low cost carrier Wizz Air, has revealed that it will discontinue its scheduled 3x weekly service from Budapest to the low cost Parisien airport, Paris Beauvais, which is located on the outskirts of the French capital. The route will be discontinued from January 8th of 2010.
Despite the decision by Wizz to stop operating the city pairs, there are several carriers linking Budapest and Paris.
- Air France - 20x weekly service from Paris CDG
- Malev Hungarian Airlines - 16x weekly frequencies also from CDG
- easyJet operates a daily service from Paris Orly (ORY)
Wizz currently operates 23 weeky flights into Paris Beauvais and operations seven different destinations. The news will come as a blow to the French airport, which in previous years has lost other low cost carriers such as Sterling and Norwegian, whom both migrated to CDG. There are currently just three airlines operating from BVA, with Ryanair the dominant carrier (166 weekly departures) making it the airlines largest non based airport and Blue Air the Romanian LCC.
